P7M- Earthquake!
18th Nov 2022
P7 have been learning about Natural Disasters. We have seen how buildings are destroyed during earthquakes, so we tried to build earthquake proof towers, using cubes, blocks, Clix and marshmallows!
We kept trying our designs out while we were building and tried to modify and improve our designs.
We tested each tower out on a "wobble table" to see how many shakes it took to make our towers fall over!
We found that those with a bigger base stood up better, and that the towers were more stable if we had some weight inside them.
The 2nd tallest tower.
The tallest tower!
This tower survived the longest in the "earthquake"!
Our wabble table was 2 large books with elastic bands round them with squishy balls between the books.
We measured the height of each tower
then our teacher hit the side of the wobble table
to see how long our tower would survive
in an earthquake!
